I Want: Kaj Franck Enamelware 04/06/2011
ANTIQUE WEEK ENTRY 5 I heart heart pitchers and Kaj Franck. Picked up this simple enamel pitcher at Sleepy Poet Antique Mall last weekend. It was love at first sight (literally). I bought it based on pure aesthetic, having no idea that the piece was part of the 1960s modernist enamelware line, designed by Kaj Franck for Arabia Finel Finland, and highly collectible. Upon further research, I discovered that I am obsessed with this entire line of Finnish enamel. I mean, who couldn't love that lobster bowl? Then, upon further research, I came across an article from the February 2011 issue Martha Stewart Living Magazine (which I actually read back in January). It was about Lisa Cogdon (artist, illustrator, and author of Collection a Day) and her collection of Mid-century kitchenware, mainly Scandinavian enamelware. I vaguely recall being memorized by this image and ogling all the pieces of her colorful collection. Apparently it made some sort of subliminal impact on me... notice the heart motif on a bowl in her collection? It's just like my pitcher! I love what she had to say about her first encounter with the vintage kitchenware: ''About 12 years ago, I found an orange plate. That was the gateway drug both to enamelware and plate collecting for me.'' I'm officially addicted. Add Comment I Want: Ornate Friendship Bracelets 01/07/2011
Remember making friendship bracelets as a kid? I would pick a few colors of embroidery floss, tie a knot in the end and safety pin the strands to my backpack for resistance. Then tie knot after knot.... till finally my pattern started to develop like magic! It was one of my first handmade endeavors. Ah, memories. As I was reminiscing about it today, I decided to see how the craft has been holding up. And to my amazement - I was floored by what appeared on Etsy. I found intricate textiles, colorful jewelry and not so childlike handiwork. I picked a few of my favorites from Ferns and Moss, Studio Rick Rack, Shimbus, Audgpodge, Bright Village, Brillosito, and Artistic Jewelry to showcase the amazing progress these symbols of friendship have made since I was a youngin'. I wish I could buy them all! I Want: Cowl Scarves 01/03/2011

Words to live by. I find it equally inspiring and guilt inducing. Favorite line: Keep it Wonky. Those Brits and their language. Take a gander at Aardvark On Sea's website. Or buy some of their letterpress on Esty. I Want: Custom Toe Portrait Shoes 10/06/2010
Lately, I've been cringing to the sound of others rejoicing in the cool weather. I'm a pretty big wimp when it comes to the cold. What's so great about it anyway? No more flip-flops and no more pedicures - for shame! But alas! An alternative. Belgian designer, Bart Persoons, makes custom shoes with personalized feet portraits! What a brilliant idea. I just might have to commission a pair, and rock barefeet all winter long. I Want: A Maptote Bag 08/17/2010
Cute tote bags, stationary, onsies, and wine bags from Maptotes. Buy something for the cartophile in your life (most major cities available). I Want: More Rings 07/29/2010
I can't have enough rings; it's physically impossible. No matter how many I have, it's never enough. My hunger for the beautiful-finger-accessories cannot be satiated. Maybe I have a ring worm? Lame jokes aside, while I was taking some pictures of my collection this afternoon, I noticed a trend: flowers, turquoise, and reds. Now that I see them all together, my limited taste in style seems pretty ridiculous. And although I have plethora of rings to chose from... I always seem to end up with the same one on my hand (the red one on the Jadite hand). It's my signature ring. But this isn't a new addiction. It began when I first started earning an allowance. By age 11, I had a silver ring on every finger... seriously all ten... only silver - gold was ugly. I even wore toe rings on each foot. They were my treasures, and each one represented a different story (kinda like a charm bracelet). And now, when I go home to my parents, I bust them all out and let the ring nostalgia pour over me. I know, I have a problem. | When life gives you hands, make handmade. January 2012 All Online
