Crown Town Handmade is holding it's next Make-Out Session this Thursday on mobiles. And who better to look to, for inspiration, than the leading purveyor of mobile mastery: Anthropologie.

More Anthro after the jump...

While in SF, spent some quality time at two fantastic galleries: SFMOMA and the De Young (in Golden Gate Park). The following images chronical a few of my favorite pieces...

I adore San Francisco for many reasons, but I think what absolutely compels me to the left-coast metropolis... is COLOR. Hell, even their bridge is orange! And since tomorrow I'm headed to the home of Rice-A-Roni, Ghirardelli Chocolate, and It's It Ice Cream, it seemed appropriate that I post these amazing photos by "sfgirlbybay" (bohemian modern style from a San Francisco girl). Found them in a section of her blog called, "Sunday in the City." Aren't they magnificent? (limited prints available at the sfgirlbybay etsy shop)

I spent some time (read as: too much time) this evening perusing a category called "If You're Going to San Francisco" filled with loads of great things to see and do in town. Oh, and there's also a thorough page of resource links... which is great for losing yourself in an interweb vortex. Can't wait to check out some of her recommendations!

The Sketchbook Project: 2011
If you act now, for only $25, your creativity can tour the United States in a nationwide art exhibit! How you ask? Just one word: plastics*... I mean sketchbooks.

The Sketchbook Project asks participants to chose a Moleskine and a theme (for instance: "Great hopes and massive failures," "It will be fun, I swear!," "In flight," and "Help!"). But what actually fills the sketchbook, is up to the user's imagination.

I chose a gray book with the "Revenge" theme (dum-dum-DUM).

Participants must return their works of art by January 15th. The tour starts in March. While your sketchbook travels from city to city, visitors who attend the exhibit can "check-out" your book (within the gallery space). It gets scanned with every viewing and you can track its progress. Pretty sweet huh? Be sure to get yours before October 31st, so you too can live vicariously through some bound paper.

Just saw the new documentary, "Exit Through the Gift Shop" last night. Feeling inspired, but not quite ready to start spray painting a posterized image of myself across town... I found this more temporary and ecological form of grafitti, by UK artist, Anna Garforth.

From Anna's about me:
I feel the best place for some of my creations is in the public eye. I aim for my work to spark intrigue and questioning as it melds into our transitory daily landscape. My work needs to make an immediate impact given its ephemeral nature. I don't wish to preserve it, it lives, it dies, and new growth ensues.

I've gotten prank contact entries before, from some friends who think they're pretty funny, so when I got the email notification that "Santa Claus" had contacted Not Made In China, I was certain it was a joke. Hardee har har, right?

The contact entry form read: "Hello. You've been swell this year. A special delivery will be sent your way. I will just need your american apparel t-shirt size(s) + shipping address. Keep creating & don't sweat the small stuff."

The return email was "santaclaus@johnnycupcakes.com"... so I of course Googled "Johnny Cupcakes," and what to my wondering eyes should appear? But a legit website, filled with tons of sweet gear.

A week later, this package arrived on my doorstep:

During a Flickr search today I came across a few vintage gems that reminded me of the song, The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room, by Flight of the Conchords... "You're so beautiful, you could be an air hostess in the 60s..."

I'm very intrigued by the mid-century phenomenon of the stewardess. Flying used to be so glamourous. Nowadays, "flight attendants" charge you for a pack of pretzels, while you sit next to someone in yoga pants and a hoodie.

I digress. These photos gave me an idea: luggage tags with old pics such as these. I just may have to start some prototyping.

Badge a Day is a daily button project created by UK based designer, Stuart Bannocks. Stuart has being designing a different pin everyday since May of 2009. As you can see he gets pretty inventive with his concepts.

Saw these illustrated music lyrics a while back and just had to post the Smiths' line (the same line that was used uber romantically in 500 Days of Summer) .
