P-I-M-P. I met Melissa through AIGA Charlotte. We serve on the board together and bonded over letterpress talk while Melissa was in the process of planning her wedding. She's one of those type-A designers who spared no details when orchestrating her wedding. Everything was hand-picked, beautifully executed, and impeccably branded. The wedding took place at a golf club in New York, so she took the golf theme and ran with it. Just to give you an idea, her save the dates came in boxes filled with wood shavings, shades of green, argyle patterns, and a custom golf tee (featured on Mint).
It wasn't long after Melissa discovered my side-gig as a button maker that she enlisted my help in producing custom wedding buttons. Melissa designed over 10 different buttons to use at the wedding. First was her wedding logo (the "J" and "M" letter combo). She also designed four unique buttons for guests to wear: "I'm a dance machine," "I heart weddings," "Stirred not shaken," and "Sorry I'm taken." Plus she designed "Mr." and "Mrs." buttons for the bride and groom, and "Father of the bride," "Mother of the bride," "Father of the groom," and "Mother of the Groom" for their parents.
She even designed personalized buttons for her wedding planner and photographer! That's when the inner-pimp came out. Apparently the buttons were such a hit with everyone, that her photographer Joe Elario Photography (who took the AMAZING photos above and many more - seriously click the link to see them all), her event planner, and her hair/make-up stylist all asked her to have more of their "custom" buttons mass produced!
Three custom orders later, I decided to declare Melissa my official "saleswoman of the year. "
